NC Division of Public Health
Marjorie Lanier serves as the Project Coordinator for the Healthy Places, Active Spaces Grant Program in the Physical Activity and Nutrition (PAN) Branch, NC Division of Public Health. Marjorie completed her Masters in Public Health Leadership at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May 2011, and comes to the PAN Branch with a variety of community and state level public health experience. Prior to joining the PAN Branch, she served as the coordinator for WakeMed Health and Hospitals' pediatric diabetes prevention program, "ENERGIZE!", conducted both county and state-wide, and also worked with NC Action for Healthy Kids conducting parent workshops across the state. Prior to that, she spent a number of years as the Wellness Director for YMCA of the Triangle, leading staff teams and coordinating a variety of wellness programs for the community. She earned her Bachelors in Psychology from Elon University and immediately following graduation, lived and worked abroad in New Zealand for one year.
Marjorie is a Wake County native, so when away from work, she can be found enjoying Umstead Park and the greenways, teaching group fitness classes, and spending time with her family that live in the area.
